Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 15, 2026

AmalfiMap respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through amalfimap.com, why we collect it, how we use it and what rights you have.

1. Who we are

AmalfiMap is an independent Amalfi Coast travel planning website and digital map project.

The data controller responsible for personal data processed through this website is:

Amalfimap.com
info@amalfimap.com

For privacy-related questions or requests, contact us using the email address above.

2. Information we collect

We may collect the following types of information.

Information you provide

When you join the AmalfiMap waitlist, subscribe for updates or contact us, we may collect:

  • your email address;
  • your name, if you choose to provide it;
  • information contained in messages you send us;
  • your subscription and consent preferences.

You are not required to provide this information simply to browse the website.

Information collected automatically

When you visit amalfimap.com, our website and service providers may automatically process limited technical information such as:

  • IP address;
  • browser and device type;
  • operating system;
  • pages visited;
  • referring website;
  • approximate location derived from IP address;
  • date and time of visits;
  • cookie and consent preferences;
  • security and server-log information.

Where required by law, non-essential analytics or tracking technologies are activated only after you provide consent. EU guidance requires prior consent for cookies used for purposes such as analytics or behavioural advertising unless an exemption applies.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • operate and secure amalfimap.com;
  • manage the AmalfiMap waitlist;
  • send early-access information and AmalfiMap launch updates you requested;
  • send useful Amalfi Coast-related updates where you have agreed to receive them;
  • respond to questions and messages;
  • understand how visitors use the website;
  • improve our content, website and future digital map;
  • prevent spam, abuse and security incidents;
  • comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your personal information for unrelated purposes without an appropriate legal basis.

4. Legal bases for processing

Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, we process personal data under one or more of the following legal bases:

Consent — for example, when you voluntarily join the waitlist, subscribe to emails or accept optional analytics or marketing cookies.

Legitimate interests — where reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain and improve the website, provided those interests do not override your rights.

Contract or steps before entering a contract — where processing is necessary to provide something you specifically request.

Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose information under applicable law.

If processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn. This right is expressly provided under GDPR.

5. Email waitlist and communications

If you join the AmalfiMap waitlist, we use your email address to provide the updates described next to the signup form, including information about AmalfiMap, early access and relevant project or travel updates.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in our emails or by contacting us.

We do not require you to subscribe to marketing communications in order to browse amalfimap.com.

6. Cookies

Amalfimap.com may use cookies and similar technologies.

Some cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function, maintain security or remember privacy choices. These may be used without consent where permitted by law.

Other technologies, including certain analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, are used only where permitted and, where required, after you provide consent.

You can accept, reject or manage optional cookies through the website’s cookie consent controls.

More detailed information about individual cookies may be provided through our Cookie Policy or cookie preference panel.

7. Analytics

We may use analytics services to understand aggregate website usage, such as which pages are visited, how visitors reach the site and how the website performs.

Where these services require consent, they will not be activated until the appropriate consent has been provided.

Analytics information is used to improve AmalfiMap and its travel content, rather than to identify individual visitors unnecessarily.

8. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal data for money.

We may share limited personal information with trusted service providers where necessary to operate AmalfiMap, including providers involved in:

  • website hosting;
  • website security and performance;
  • WordPress infrastructure;
  • email delivery and subscriber management;
  • analytics;
  • cookie consent management;
  • technical support.

These providers may process information only as necessary to provide their services and are subject to their own contractual and legal data-protection obligations.

We may also disclose information where required by law, court order or a competent public authority, or where reasonably necessary to protect our legal rights.

9. International data transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred internationally and applicable law requires additional safeguards, we require an appropriate legal transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision, Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful safeguard.

10. How long we keep information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

In particular:

Waitlist and email subscription data is normally retained while you remain subscribed or while the AmalfiMap waitlist and related communications remain active.

Contact correspondence may normally be retained for up to 24 months after the last meaningful interaction unless there is a reason to keep it longer.

Security and technical logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for website security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.

Where you unsubscribe, we may retain minimal information necessary to record and respect your opt-out request.

Information may be retained longer where required by law or necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

GDPR requires personal data not to be kept longer than necessary and requires privacy notices to state the retention period or the criteria used to determine it.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and the law applicable to you, you may have rights relating to your personal information.

Under GDPR, these may include the right to:

  • access your personal data;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of your personal data;
  • restrict certain processing;
  • object to certain processing;
  • receive certain information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent.

GDPR expressly provides these rights and also gives individuals the right to complain to a supervisory authority.

To exercise your rights, email info@amalfimap.com

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

12. Complaints

If you are located in the European Economic Area and believe your personal data has been processed unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

You may also contact the supervisory authority in the EU/EEA country where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred. GDPR expressly permits complaints in those jurisdictions.

13. Visitors from the United States

Visitors in certain US states may have additional privacy rights under state law.

If such legislation applies to AmalfiMap and to your information, you may have additional rights relating to access, correction, deletion or certain uses or disclosures of personal information.

We do not sell personal information for money.

If AmalfiMap later engages in activities treated as a “sale” or “sharing” under applicable US privacy laws, we will provide any opt-out mechanisms required by those laws.

For example, California’s CCPA currently applies only to businesses meeting specified statutory thresholds; simply having visitors from California does not automatically make every website subject to the CCPA.

14. External links

Amalfimap.com contains links to third-party websites, transport operators, booking services, tourism resources and other external websites.

Once you leave amalfimap.com, the privacy practices of those third parties are governed by their own policies. AmalfiMap is not responsible for how independent third-party websites process your information.

15. Embedded third-party content

Some pages may contain content provided by third parties, such as maps, videos or social-media content.

These services may receive technical information about your device or visit and may use cookies or similar technologies.

Where consent is legally required before such third-party technologies load, we aim to prevent them from activating until the appropriate consent has been provided.

16. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

No website or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate AmalfiMap.

17. Children’s privacy

AmalfiMap is a general travel-planning service and is not directed specifically at children.

We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children through the website. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us without appropriate authorisation, please contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

18. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when AmalfiMap changes, when we introduce new services or when legal or technical requirements change.

The latest version will always be published on this page with its updated date.
